Painting baseboard heaters?

Yes, on occasion I venture into the DIYer mode even though I am the poster boy for the anit-DIYer. I am painting our daughter's bedroom this weekend in two shades (green/purple -- kinda the shade my face turns when I think of it). She has one long electric baseboard heater on her wall (an exterior wall). I am thinking of painting the metal in the contrasting color but I'm not sure sure I should be doing that. Anybody have any advice for this two left-thumbed DIYer? Thanks.

John,
Those things come apart rather easily, typically a bunch of tiny phillip head screws. Kill the breaker for her EBB, take it apart, lightly sand it with very fine sandpaper to get the gloss dulled and use long even streaks of any canned spray paint rated to take ~200F or a tad more and go for it.
I saw somebody use a fine roller with the same paint as either the trim or walls (don't recall whcih) and it looked great. They even used regular water-based interior paint.
I presume they masked the top of the EBB where the cabinet meets the wall - to keep a sharp line. Maybe the reverse?
Get out the digital camera. We're going to do DIYr docu-drama!0
