toe space heater

I have a customer that had a toe space heater installed, in a kitchen remodel. The problem is that the unit is not heating and the original contractor will not come back. I need to know the btu's of the unit but never heard of the unit before. It has Smith on it with two sets of numbers. The first is 612130 and the second is KS2010. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mark

The original contractor probably won't return because he didn't know what he was doing to begin with.
What did the toe-kick heater replace? Baseboard (fin or cast iron)? An iron radiator?
How is the system piped? One-pipe loop? Two pipe? Diverter tees?
The chances of simply replacing some other emitter with a toe-kick and having it work properly are rather slim. Output rating is likely the least of your concern. Unless the unit is air-bound, flow rate and/or available supply temperature are the more likely problems and may take extensive and expensive changes to remedy.0 -
Air
There should be a rubber plug on the faceplate of the heater...under it you will find a airvent... open the vent w/ a screwdriver...if air comes out you have a airlocked kickspace...if water comes out it's most likely a flow issue. There is also a temp. sensor on the heater that will not allow the blower to run if the water temp. is less than 140 deg. (if I remember correctly)I have seen some contractors install kickspace heaters w/ Radiant....the heaters never come on because of the low water temp. you can buy a sensor w/ a lower "on" temp.

what Greg said
plus, the thermodisc that activates the fan sometimes gets loose from where it clamps to the pipe, rendering the unit inoperative.0
