snowmelt controls
what is an easy and simple way to control a snowmelt sysem. the area in question is a concrete walkway about 200 square feet? thanks0 -
a Tekmar 650 snow melt control set to melt upon power up. Install a manual on/off switch in a suitable location and just turn it on when you want it. The control is basically an idle control but it is a low cost option. I have used a switching relay and a remote located snow sensor such as a ETI but have had problems with repeated sensor failures. If you're willing to spend the money, a tekmar 664 (or similar) with snow/ice detector is the way to go for automation.
For such a small area, I'm guessing you don't want to spend a ton of money. Just ensure you provide thermal protection for the boiler unless it is rated for low return temps.0
