Does anyone know if 6" round galv. piped from outdoors will provide enough combustion air for 140,000 btu?0 -

Not really
By square inches you would need at least 35 which would be a 7" pipe. The mistake that is often made is that this pipe is only supplying combustion air to the boiler. That pipe will supply air for the total ventilation of the building if it is not in an isolated mechanical room or the flue pipe will supply the rest. Passive combustion air has no better than a 50% chance of working. Need fan powered mechanical air to guarantee real combustion air.0 -
I agree with Jim.
A Tjernlund or Exhausto pressure-responsive combustion air system is a nice way to go. Works via a VFD to maintain a positive pressure in the boiler room or enclosure.
An expense but worth it especially if it helps save your life.0
