I lit these bad boys off last night, 3- 1.8million BTU Lochinvar Copper Fin II all for DHW, I walked in today after the BMS had a burp and shut everything down for a couple of hours, the tanks dropped to 90* before it was discovered, I walked in right after it was resolved and all three were in high fire, I went for my camera here are the pics,
The only space left for the mp2 was in the old singer panel ,
Also some flames, high and low fire

All that and a sunset too
A job well done, Jeff! Outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail. No wasted material either
With the grooved piping, how long did this one take, may I ask? And what kind of facility is it?0 -
Gruv
A couple of days, it is a hotel in center city Philly. The tanks recovered from 90* back to 155* in about 35 minutes, they should never have a hot water call again!!
Thanks Brad
I forgot about the sunset I saw that on the way in, it was only night work on this one, down time on the system was not a possibility, Thanks again.
Am I the only one doing this kind of stuff around here?

ouch!!!
someone needs some help from a good machine tool electrician, that inside shot of a electrical enclosure is way too messy. sorry....0 -
I suspect
but cannot say for certain, that the upper wiring is original Singer (WSHP system?) wiring pulled out of the way.
The lower wiring by the MP-2 is clearly the new stuff, which looks pretty neat to me. I for one would cut some slack for a 2-day job done nights.0 -

well brad,
i looked again at the inside shot, and if you did work like that in the machine tool trade, you'd be shot.
not trying to be unfriendly, but a little help from tool wiring would be helpful.
i'd recomend stopping at an electrical supply house that handles industrial electrical supplies, like Allen Bradley, look through their general catalog for wiring supplies, like Hoffman wire troughs.
only trying to help..0 -
Shot???
and with a smile.
Makes me even happier to be a plumber. We only flush bad workmen down the drain.

Nice work
Jeff. I do estimating for a company that does a lot of large commercial projects but certainly could not take any credit for the installations.
I hope you are wearing your bullet-proof vest around jp.
:-))

Friendly Fire
I don't mind being shot, so long as you smile when you do it
I am not defending poor workmanship, just acknowledging that the work could well be existing and hence not within Jeff's contract to correct.
On a two-day fast-track overnight project, one can choose not to go on a fishing expedition to repair what is otherwise "existing to remain" and regardless of it's condition. One has to draw a line and stay focussed on the task at hand is all I was saying.
The contrast between what we know to be the new work versus what I think is existing, is a statement all of it's own; I cannot see those two levels of work being done by the same person at the same time in the same cabinet.
Great work is always appreciated and I have seen my share of the Good, the Bad and the Downright Ugly. Here the new work shows clearly, IMHO.0 -
trough?
Brad is very correct it is a WSHP system. The old Singer panel has a lot of old stuff in it, there is conduit going every where. The old stuff has been pushed up and the fact is no one really knows what is doing what to some degree, and being a large hotel there is not really a rush to start disconnecting things, just because it is messy and it is messy.
Brad I said a couple of days meaning 3 for copper and gas 1 for venting. The major time was the planning for the water and gas shut downs. We were able to shut, down cut in and turn back on with disrupting service to the guests. I also hooked it up with redundancy in mind the old Hydrotherms still run for the WSHP and if they need to go back to them for DHW they can. Check out the Hydro bank and the view out the boiler room door
Sorry for the mess jp
what kind of troughs do i need?
I have some trough pics I could'nt find them i will look
