How do you replace the anode rod in a water heater if the ceiling is in the way???

Disconnect water heater and lay on its side or drill thru ceiling.0 -
The only way out of this one....
Call plumber or, disconnect gas/water lines, tip towards you have wife hold the tank at roughly 8 lbs/per gal x 40 gal. Just kidding! Call the Pro. They will get er done....

As gerry said!Pull the old rod up ,visegrip a section , sawzall a piece , continue over and over. Make sure the replacement rod sections will fit in the given space.0 -
