cutting out in 5 seconds flat. Put an amprope and test light on it; the amperage spikes when it spools up, then levels off at 4 (rated at 5.5), then the power drops out. Jumpered around the circuit breaker, ran fine all day. Will order new board for it.

    Salamander heater

Any oil-heat experts offer a clue on why my American Salamander Kerosene heater keeps tripping out the reset? It runs along quite well until the space gets a little warm, then stops. Reset the breaker, runs awhile again. Each cycle is shorter than the last. Replaced the cad eye, nozzle, cleaned the pump and filter, set the pressure as per man. instructions; using clean fuel. Stumped at -2 degrees and 8000 ft altitude.

the thermostat may need to be moved to another location...

it is short cycling just as any boiler will do the closer it has moderated the environment to a safe or setpoint value..

Used to have an old salamander

Ran great on light kerosene, but would act exactly as you describe when we used #2 or "questionable" kerosene.

Sold it at a swap meet some years back. Now we only use propane salamanders and infra-reds.

Oil at -2 can be a bear, any way of heating it or does it have any additives for cold weather?

    My old

one would not run if the vent filter in the cap was plugged.

Took me a long time to try it with the cap off and it ran fine.

    Long shot.

    It was a bad board

Ran all day with the circuit breaker bypassed (under strict watchful eye of course). Next day nothing at all. So I pull the board out and a little resister falls off in my hand. The solder looks to be crystalyzed. Ordering a new one Mon. AM.
