Dan Foley-How are those Triangle Tube Prestiges working?

Ross,

We probabably have over forty units installed over the past 18 months (three going in this week). We have had zero mechanical failures. We have had to go back on a few to adjust the curve but that is to be expected as the intial setup is an educated guess. We bought two of the service kits but have yet to use any of the parts.

We have been very happy with this product but there is room for improvement. We had a couple of jobs where the installer "tested his strength" on the copper MA's stubbed out the bottom. We were able to field repair both. I would much prefer sweat stubs or flanges. I would also like to see the line voltage wiring connections improved. Once the connections are made. it is diffucult to get to the components behind the swing door. A wiring strip on the right hand side would be an improvement.

These are minor issues - overall this is a top shelf product. -DF

    Dan,
Thanks for the info. I know that I have asked this question before. Hot Rod has been giving us reports on his Lochinvar Knight field test, so I thought you could do the same. It's good to hear how new products perform under real life applications. Please keep us posted on the Wall. Always anxious to hear about good results and/or problems. That way when we recommend products to our customers, we know that we can install with confidence. Thanks again!

    And

that funky little wiring insertion tool is weird. Don't lose it! I'd rather a plain Jane terminal strip, with screws! It's hard to get stranded wire into that terminal strip. You really need to solder the ends first.

I prefer a boiler drain instead of that bleeder they give you for the top purge point.

I found it easier to cut the copper lines inside the case and solder on from there. It's real hard to get a pipe wrench up underneath to back up that adapter, which is on soft copper after they silver soldered the connections.

Plus you can set the thing on the ground if you remove the protruding connections.

I bent my first one when the wrench slipped off that adapter.

It also allows you to straighten the piping as it comes out of the case crooked, when shipped. Not unlike the Weil Ultra Crooked connections :)

Is Viessmann the only company that can produce connections that are straight and plumb ;) without installer modifications.
