Dirt in steam lines

are "open" systems. That means they are subject to corrosion at all times...after many years the steel will create a lot of sediment in those pipes (especially the returns)...it can slow down steam and condensate thereby causing all kinds of other issues...if you are having issues...sounds like a place to look at...kpc

  • Dirt in steam lines

    Hi Everyone,

Our building is supplied by Con Ed steam. I'm curious to know how dirt could accumulate in steam lines in a building due to the steam coming into the building. A contractor has recommended cleaning out the supply steam lines. Is this something that should be done on an annual basis? Thanks for you help. Thanks
