indirects, solar heaters and mixing valves

Options
check the rating on the mixer of choise. it may have a minimum or maximum rating for inlet water. I would think cold water would be the way to go. That pre-heated water could be quite warm and the mixing valve may spend a lot of time "hunting" for stable output

indirects, solar heaters and mixing valves

I want to install a mixing valve on my indirect water heater.I am using my solar hot water heater as a pre-heater for the indirect water heater cold supply. want to know if If I install a mixing valve would you use the pre-heated water or a direct connection to the domestic cold water for tempering?

    I agree for similar reasons

There may be no safe-level high limit on your pre-heating tank. Might you have water in there as hot as the primary tank? And if so, how would it be tempered without cold water? Tempering is defeated. You have no safe choice.

    I would stick with cold.
