Celebrating a Day of Thanks - Half a world away

We all had a great non-eventful day here on the snowy shores of western Pa, considering yesterday we were among many evacuees in my neighborhood for a short amount of time. we tend to take for granted what we have here most days in the states. Take care and God Bless!!

    Much to be thankful for!

I just wanted to wish all of you "Wallies" a Happy Thanksgiving.
Being far away from home in a bleak environment very foreign to my normal one, you might think it would be a hard time for me. In some aspects it is, but it makes me really appreciate how fortunate I am at home and how good I really have it.

My family is a very close knit bunch who are all really good hearted and generous people. I am very lucky to have the love of such people. My kids are the best in the world. They really love their Dad and it is easily felt even though thousands of miles and oceans separate us. My beautiful girlfriend is of the same mold as my family. The care packages, cards, letters, and emails really keep my spirits high. I am lucky to have the love of such a woman.

My friends are men of the highest caliber. I am again blessed to have such good people in my life. My best friend, the (infamous?) Mark Hunt, is patiently awaiting my return. I know hunting season is just not the same for him this year. The man has been like a brother for many years now. Rick Ganey has been much more than a sales rep from N&S Supply, he has shown himself to be a real friend and a patriot.

I am very blessed to be able to work in this great profession of hydronic heating. To be able to be a part of this very exciting time in our industry is so gratifying!

While it is tough to be away from home over this holiday time it has given me some valuable time for some self-reflection and self-improvement.

I am honored to be able to serve this great nation. If I have to give up just a few months of my life to serve here, it is a small price indeed to pay for all the good things in my life that this country has afforded me and my family.

God Bless you all and have a great Thanksgiving!

    Thankful

For you and all other men and women in your mold, serving our great nation in places inhospitable.

Darin, you set yourself apart not by words, but by actions. As a volunteer when the comforts of home can draw one within oneself, you answered a greater inner call for the benefit of others.

I can imagine your children have, by your service and example, the concrete proof of why they look up to you, inspired to grow up to be like you.

So proud to know you, proud of your service and for the service of those by your side.

    Safe home, all of you!

Thank you...seems kinda lame...but it's heartfelt. I see the news and am grateful that men like you are fighting over there so we don't have to go to work armed, and my kids don't have to fight in the streets, and my wife doesn't have to worry about bombs at the grocery store.

I have personal friends in the 172nd Stryker Brigade...the Tomahawks. They'll be home next week and in Church on Sunday...what a service that will be!

    Thank you.
