    Ran into this beauty yesterday,nice venting.And, yes that's a black ell on the cold water side and a whole bunch of black on the hot side. But the best is the pile of cigarette butts,nothing like taking pride in your work.

    not bad for my 12th water heater install huh?, lol. thats what happens when homeowners try to save a few bucks hiring someone off the street, unfortunitly they are unaware how serious of a health risk it could be...water contamination, flue spillage...etc. if u ask me they are lucky to be alive today. regards, J.     Thats sure looks safe!

    I had a gas hot water unit that someone's friend put in for them. They put a 80G where a 40G shorty used to vent. Well as you know the venting is out 3ft higher and Yes they still hooked it up. Can you say Red Tag. Well the problem is I went there for a no heat call. Luckily it wasn't a no Pulse call for the Kid's living in the basement. Ignorance is blind as they say.

    They banned those in plumbing too, but for different reasons. At least the guy was consistent in doing sub-par work througout. I would hate to see good solder joints (and dielectric unions like the manufacturer requires) combined with bad exhaust piping! Where is the baro damper supposed to go?

    That's a good word...but not in this case.

    The butts are there because that was the only place they could smoke, and not have it noticed.(there once was a draft hood there..apparently.)

    Funny how there are all types in every crowd. By in large this group certainly seems to be made up of more particular individuals. I like the humor that shows up from time to time! Especially the pictures.
