Top Ten Reasons...

I'm planning a seminar topic and would like your help. I want to put together a list of humorous reasons why or why not a person should start a business. Each topic will have a "top ten" list of reasons. One list would be reasons for starting a business, i.e. "I was bored and needed to get off the couch" and the other list would be reasons for not starting a business, i.e. "I couldn't even afford the gas to put in a truck."
The more creative the better. I'd prefer you e-mail me your suggestions rather than list them here but feel free to share some really good ones. Thanks! (johnhall@achrnews.com)

Couln't pass this one up!
WHY TO:
Flexible work schedule.
Create your own pay scale.
Have a cool van.
Lead a stress free life without a boss.
Earn the respect of customers and peers.
Develop a retirement plan.
WHY NOT TO:
No time off.
Don't always get paid.
Lucky to keep the van running.
More stress than I ever could have imagined.
Customers and peers get mad when you charge a fair rate.
Work until the day you die.
THE MORAL:
Keep your sense of humor!!!!

Warm air heater
Dear Sir,
As we are pensioners, we qualified to get our old gas warm air furnace replaced. The engineers who fitted it increased the fresh air vents, and we do understand why.
The problem is, the furnice is in the centre of the house, which means the vent draws in cold air from the outside straight into the hall along with the rain, as there is no physical link to the furnace. The result is a very cold damp hall. The lounge door is opposite the vent, so there is a very cold draught, and the themostat cuts in costing us money. This is not efficient use of power. We have insulated the walls and the loft, and replaced windows and the front door.
Is there any way the vent can be re-routed?
I could really do with advise here.

In our case
Gordon and I wanted to specialize in the work we love to do, without having to deal with someone else's agendas.
We're both spoiled now, it would be very difficult for one of us to work for someone else again.

With all due respect...
But Mr. Hall ( I think I saw your by-line in the ACHR News)
I was curious about the photographs in my recent issue.
Notably, those two installs. One is Coleman Upflow. How does that client change his air filter with that condensate drain location?? The other picture shows a Ruud
upflow.. modulating captioned, is Honeywell in the Mod oem market?? Just wondering. Open a vintage pinot noir and have a great Thanksgiving.

Quality
The # 1 reason i am self employed besides being told i'm nuts is quality i draw the limit as to materal how the job gets layed out and price and there are usully no blinders going in ,even though life always has it's stresses dealing with bosses who adgenas are just get it done and don,t bore me with the details .I've found that i don't have to cut any quality or materal ,less stress and the only voices i hear yelling at me are i believe in my head .I work pretty hard and i have found i never feel like i'm stuck in a bump and grind plus i enjoy what i do for a living and it's better to be doing what you enjoy instead of dealing with some company man touting the line while he checks his watch at the time clock peace and good luck clammyR.A.
