I have a oil steam radiator system the boiler was replaced about 2 yrs ago I am now expersing water loose...I have a self fill system that is now needing to be filled 2 times daily if not more and I can not figure out were all the water is going I am seeing water on the basement floor about 10 ft from the boiler but don't know how to determine if the boiler sprung a leak or if I have leaking pipes... I was thinking if I turn the boiler off and fill I could see if the water level goes down BUT then how do I find out were the water is leaking from if not the boiler if it is the pipes will they be dripping of would i see water spraying when the boiler is on and producing steam PLZ advise who do I call the peopel who installed the boiler or the plumber

Leak
Sounds like you may have a leaking return pipe under the concrete slab in your basement. It is not as big a job as it sounds like when the word slab is mentioned but it will have to be replaced immediately.
Question: is the leak starting from the boiler and spreading out 10 ft. or is it starting 10 ft away from the boiler. If your boiler is leaking try looking behing the jacket(cover panels) when the boiler is off. You will see moisture on the sections.
Good luck and if you aren't comfortable doing this yourself, call the plumber who installed the boiler, let him look and advise you.

If the water on the floor turns out to be something not associated with the boiler have someone take a look add your heat exchange. Could have a crack and the steam is going up your chimney causing the auto feed to have to add twice a day............Dan AKA ROOKIE0 -
Water Loose resolved
Thanks to all for the help Just so U all know I called the plumber the boiler is ok and all the pipes are above the floor both the return and feeder and all is well (not sure where the puddle came from) We did discover that there was a lot of rust and sediment in the bottom of the boiler so after a 2 hour job of cleanning out and replacing some clogged pipes and 2 raditor vents They were spitting out water the problem appears to have been corrected I will be looking into a self feed water device (I have to do a manual water fill usually once a week)0
