    WM Ultra Troubleshooting

I have a WM Ultra 155 with an outdoor reset. The heater stopped working. After checking a few things, I realized my outdoor reset was registering the outside temp at 230 degrees. No wonder the heater wasn't turning on. Is this a problem internally with the control board or a problem with the outdoor reset thermometer?

    Its the outdoor sensor....

If the sensor shorts it will read 230, if it is open it will read -22... for now just unhook one of the wires going to the sensor so that it reads the -22 and you will at least get heat... you can back down the max. setpoint temp. if you don't need to have the boiler running that high of temps. right now.
I don't think that your boiler is that old...WM will probably replace the sensor under warr. for you.
Make sure the one they replace it with is the round one, not the little oblong one. The round one's are better....

    Once again, thanks

  • I just found this on two local Ultras, and Josh posted to indicate that he too had some issues with the outdoor sensors, and that sealing them up with silicon stopped the problems. Apparently it was water or spiders or something getting in there and messing with the sensor.
