X10
look at the X10 site.
I have a customer that wired up two T stats in his house and calls in on they way there . The X10 unit switches the T stat wires over to the stat that is set higher.
real simple, cheap , and Toasty warm by the time they get there.......

Sensaphone
The Sensaphone FGD-1104-CS is more reliable than X10 signals and also speaks in human voice to confirm relay status and to tell you current temp! We use them all the time. About $300 from Graybar.0 -
I did one of these recently
and got steered - by whom I no longer remember - towards Aube equipment. Controller model CT240 (about $70) and thermostat TH135-01 (about $75). I very much liked the thermostat - and thought at the time I might switch over to it on other jobs but haven't remembered til now ...
