Fluidmaster 1000 Pro-Temp steam controller
Is anyone familiar with these? I have found no documentation from the manufacturer, and the local company that distributed these seems to have disappeared. Its very sophisticated (modem, counterintuitive hand held key pad, etc), but does not allow front panel resetting of the most critical operating parameters. I can change the design temp, but not the interior temp. I can set the amount of night setback and morning boost, but it won't show or allow adjustment of a clock. It'll show room temps but does not allow you to do anything with this information. It shows calculated percentage of operation time based on design temp and outdoor temp but gives no indication of total cycle length.
I apparently don't know the secret handshake and secret code words to get into these other areas of adjustment. Maybe I have to hop on one foot while reciting relevant incantations.
And so... the building is too hot and the darn thing makes the boiler short cycle as if the total cycle length is something like 20 minutes. The people there claim (and I believe them) that the heat's been out of control since the (expensive) controller was installed 10 years ago. Classrooms have pneumatic controls, but halls, restrooms and storage areas are running out of control. No one likes cold toilet seats but 87 degree restrooms are ridiculous!
If no one out there has any useful info on this unit I may be forced to remove it entirely and install a Tekmar 269, an idea I've begun to get the people there to consider.
As it stands they'd be better off with a wall thermostat in the hallway.
Anybody with manuals floating around?Terry T

Please post the following:
The country of manufacture.
A digital picture of the panel. (edited down to a max width of 600 pixels)
A patent # if on the device.
Any other manufacturer, town of manufacture, serial numbers, more detailed model data, component manufacturer (within the devices' cabinetry) sensor model #'s, any UL, ASME, DOE, I=B=R "approval" notes, etc.
Somebody here will know what it is.0 -

Here's a photo of the controller, and also the ASCII keyboard that came with it. No menu, believe me.
All I want to do is set the clock, indoor target temp and cycle length.Terry T

GOT IT!
Did a google search typing: "Pro-Temp steam controller"
They were at AHR in 2006 according to one of many sites. Lochinvar played with them, Colorado has a wholesaler signed up...
Check it out.0
