Pressuretrol - pigtail?

My copper pigtail is piped directly out the top of the lwco . I know in most cases this is ok, but it seems that it is close to all the crap that can build up. I just purchased a gauge that reads in oz's. Can I raise the height of the pressuretrol by coming out of the lwco with a 8" nipple and into a tee ? On one end of tee come up with a pigtail to the pressuretrol and on the other side another pigtail to the gauge? Any Thoughts ?Thanks
