Best way to equalize stream radiators?

Options
I have a small house with a one pipe steam system. House is 2 floors not including basement, 4 rooms per floor.

I have just had my old 50's oil burner replaced with a brand new Smith oil burner. I insulated the mains and replaced all of the vents on my radiators.

Question is, what is the best way to start adjusting my radiators? How wide do I open the first floor vents assuming they are the closest, and how wide do I open the second floor vents assuming they are the furthest from the boiler?

I know I will need to tweak because my radiators are different higths and lengths, but what is a good rule for the initial adjustments? Right now, all vents are wide open and the second floor bedroom is 8 degrees hotter than the first floor.

Thank you

    venting

Have you vented the main well? What's the time from the beginning of one heating call to the next?
  • Start with them all open wide, for fast venting.

Each day that the heat is used (leave the thermostat set in one place), adjust closed a LITTLE BIT, the vent in the warmest room.

Each adjustment affects ALL of the radiators, in some small way. Don't adjust too much at once.
