Looking for Mod/con installer in Brooklyn, NY

I am the owner of an 1840s brick townhouse in Brooklyn, NY city. Our English basement (which is half below and half above ground, no real basement or cellar) needs to be almost gut renovated sometime next year or later. It's a kitchen/ dining area with an extension in the back.
The current Slantfin 100 series 84 MBTU (hugely oversized) gas boiler and separate gas water heater are in this basement. They were installed in front of one of the two chimneys and vent through it (via a B-vent?). They also take up a lot of physical space in the room. I'm currently considering wall-hung (and compact) combination heat and DHW mod/coms like the Viessman Vitodens, Weil McLain Ultra, Prestige, etc. Any suggestions there? The mod/con would be installed away from the front of the chimney, maybe to one side, so that the chimney and fireplace are available, for a wood stove or gas insert. The switch is as much for freeing up space and the chimney as it is for efficiency and improved heating comfort. Hopefully the entire installation can be concealed within a closet of some sort. The house has a converted gravity hotwater system with cast-iron radiators without TRvs.
Questions:
Does installation/plumbing take place before, during or after the rest of the renovation?
If I hire a GC to do the rest of the renovation, how would they work in cooperation with the heating pro? Would I be forced to go with one of the GCs heating guys or could I say, 'Based on the specialized nature of this heating system, I researched and found my own person and would like them to do the installation.' Since, you folks negotiate this on a daily basis, I thought you might be able to advise me.
I did check the Find a Professional and checked out professional's websites where available, but was wondering if anyone knew of somebody doing this kind of work in my area and whom they thought was good, so I can contact them for a quote when I am finally ready to do the job. I hope I am not violating any sort of protocol here. When I posted this question on a very popular Brooklyn blog for owners of similar homes, I did not get any responses and am wondering if nobody gets mod/cons in my area. You can also contact me by e-mail.
