Unfortunately, the turn down rate is no where near what you are looking for.

    Does anyone make one?

Give me a two stage oil burner that can burn .85 on low and 1.35 GPH on high flame. Would work wonders on a residential steam system.

Anyone make these things? What do you think? We've modified gas burners to do this and the savings were substantial.

    Riello has a

2 stage residential burner. Only listed on one brand of furnace, so far.

    Sad thing....

They've been on the market for years...in Europe.(Not much warm air OR steam on the other side of the pond)

Ed, if you have any questions, I suggest you drop by the Firedragon's site. George has one of the first(residential) 2 stage burners ever seen in the states made by Riello.....from 1984(?). He'll fill you in.

BTW, I've personally seen a MODULATING oil burner in action! The firing rates it works at are far from compatable with American equipment...at this time, but I feel it will show itself when the equipment manufacturers and fuel suppliers get their s#!^ together. Chris
