Here's an interesting new slant on
how to install a humidifier. Found this humidifier install had been running 3 years before they noticed it leaking. LOL! The homeowners should have paid closer attention to the guy installing this job. We added a transition to fix it. WW

Honey,
what's that smell? Was that YOU?0 -
Figures Mark
would catch the vinyl tube drain drilled into the stack. I was pointing this out to the wife and telling her what a no no it was and someone from up above flushed a terlet, and a bit of water squirted out from around the permagum. I couldn't have illustrated it better. Whadda mess. WW

change the drain too!
That's a code violation and health hazard. A deep-seal P-trap with stand-pipe can be installed as a safe waste or a condensate pump added to discharge to a laundry trap.

If
If that isn't a typical installation I don't know what is. Around here I see more crap like that than I can begin to describe. Most of the duct systems I see look as if they were designed and installed by some old farmer making a chicken coop with whatever he had laying around.
Nice fix!0 -
I gave them
the name of my favorite plumber to have the drain fixxed. Being HVAC in MD means I only deal with hydronic pipes. I'm not allowed to touch the drains and water supplys. WW
