monoflow system upfeed and downfeed

Is the main at the ceiling of the second floor, feeding both upwards and downwards?
Any downfeeds should have two (2) monoflow tees, one on supply and one on return (red rings facing each other if true B&G MonoFlo tees). This is to counter the buoyancy of the hotter water.
The upfeeds need only one tee and that goes usually on the return side.
Is the offending (cold) radiator near the end of the run? Might the upstream dilution be taking down the temperature to a tepid level or are you getting no heat (hot water flow) at all?

trouble with upfeed and downfeed monoflow
we have been working on this one radiator in this guys apartment(1st floor) and it just doesnt heat up no matter what we do. The radiator on the second floor is RED hot. The main goes inbetween the two floors, nothing is working. any help is VERY much appreciated.0 -
its seems like there is no flow what so ever the main is in between the 1st and 2nd floors (first floor ceiling) it is near the end of the main but the upstairs one is red hot. we have the correct amount of tees and the are all facing the right way. its just a mystery. we also put the supply on the bottom part of the rad and the return on the top. that seemed to help it because it was ice cold before now its just luke warm.0 -
How far apart
are the tees by the way?
And I have to ask the obvious, are there any restrictions, valves, places for sludge to collect? Air venting not an issue? (I would think not given it probably vented upward to the main.)
Describe the system loop to me, size and how many radiators off of it? Do all radiators have either manual valves or TRV's?
Just trying to think like water, what would keep me from going to that radiator?0 -
i was acutally reading the heating help and i may have found the solution since its towards the end of the main I can pipe it so that the radiator is part of the main. i have the tees 1 foot apart for upper rad and 34" (size of rad) for lower radiator. Im not sure how many are on the line its in a big apartment complex. couple hundred units. thanks for all your help I'm going to run this idea by my boss and see what he thinks, besides im only 19 and dont want to do anything without comfirmation.0 -

you should be doing *lots* of things without confirmation (LOL).
Seriously- good for you for checking things out first. Your boss has a good man in the works.
A couple of hundred apartments? Hope that is not all on one loop!0
