Thats an option i gave him but he is very particular and said that he doesnt like to because when the carpet is installed they could stretch off that wall and doesnt want it to move or worse.

A carpenter friend called me the other day and has a basement that he is finishing for a customer and there is radiant heat in the slab. His concern is hitting the tubing with his ramset. He only drives his nails in 1" into the floor but there is no info on the the job about the tubing install and home owner didnt have the home built and doesnt know who the installing contractor was. How do you know that the contractor made sure his tubing stayed down and didnt float up? Any suggestions on how to approach this?
    thanks

    He could...

glue the bottom plate to the slab

Well, if he uses the right glue, it is stronger than wood, which I beleive is stronger than most carpet kickers knees.

    Samoore,*~/:)

i have a Russian buddy i played a few games of Gomoku with named Samor. Glue down "tack strips" are the norm.

floating laminates, Tarket, tile and the like are preferable over carpet for heat transfer and cleanliness.

Do like PAH says jazz the heat up get a heat gun locate the lines and dont shoot holes in it. :)

    method

Turn on the heat & wet mop the floor. Be ready to mark tubing location as that's where the floor will dry first.
