radiator for warming dinner

I am estimating work at an old home in my area. I was wondering if anyone has seen this, It looks like a 3 section radiator laying horizontal, under the counter in the kitchen. I thought it must be to keep food warm? It has 3 shelves. I certainly wish I had my camera with me. What a wonderful old house. The living room has no radiation. the radiators are in a ducting system, gravity, under the floor with registers in the floor. Not sure why they would have done this,Lots of innovations in this house though.

Parallel, reverse return, all series or what. Maybe steam?

If you're working on that house beware--don't tighten things too much as that indirect system RELIES on infiltration to work!0 -
From the days of steam and gravity.
I gave one of those to Hot Rod and it's now a heated nightstand attached to a heated bedframe. Considering his stated goal is "heating everything" I'll guess it just seems to be "there"...0 -
