Again,.By looking at this photo RB It still looks like the valutes are pointing towards the Exp tank. If they are not tell me, But that's what I see in the pic.

i i took my expansion tank off the boiler today and drained the water out so i can check the presser it was 14 psi.
i soldered a coupling in and it's back on the boiler working again so far so good
but if it dose pop again i will get a lazy hand gauge and see what it go's up to when it pops it could be the prv is popping under 30 psi
would a expansion tank just a little over 12 psi pop my relive valve?
thank you0 -
expansion tank
I'll answer your question in a moment, first, What did you solder? Was it something to the expansion tank??
Anyway, several reasons could cause a safety valve to dump water, a bad valve, autofeed, and of course a bad tank just to name a few, but let me caution you on this: The tank and valve are SAFETY RELATED and should really not be tampered with by just anyone.
What is your high limit set at?
What is the psi when it blows?
Do you need a Purge?
It really is something for the Pro's to handle.0 -
my tank is a floor mounted one so i had to cut the copper pipe that go's to the tank from the spirovent. and i put in a cupling where i cut it.
my high limit is 185 but i have out door indoor reset and never reach high limit Even on a call for dhw
thanks

RB,...
Do you have a drawing of how the tank is hooked up to the system? With pump and all?0 -
here is a picture0 -
RB, I think My eyes are playing tricks
That 2nd pump from the right,..Is it,...Could it be...Pumping toward the tank while the others are pumping away? Not sure from pic, but I tried to compare to a Taco 007/011 and damn,.It sure looks that way to me. Other than that did you try to shut down the PRV for a day or so? Also looks like the 1st pump on the right is the same way. toward the tank. Let me know, like I said Eyes or pic are going bad and I sure hope it isn't my eye's:)0 -
hay mike not sure what you mean but the second pump is not in use.
it's hooked up for my hydro air that i don't use anymore i put the first pump on this year witch is my new baseboard loop.
next year i will have 1 pump and will use a home run style piping for both zones and i will use another pump for dhw
i never turned off the prv
thank you
Jason
