using regular vent in place of main vent?

rather then when boilers been running a while (and rads giving off heat)???

can you get away with using a regular radiator
steam vent instead of the bigger main vents on a small steam system??
According to the gorton brochure, a type D vent is equal to 27 regular vents..
For ease of install (and lack of overhead space) could you use one of these in a small house/small boiler setup..
Like a steam main thats 25 feet or less?0 -

Should work fine...
But here's the test.
See how long it takes steam to get from the boiler header to that vent with the vent removed and the pipe wide open. Then time the same thing with the vent in place. If it takes much longer, you can do a better job with a bigger (or with more than one) vent.
