Prayer request for the trapped miners. The VP at the news conference indicated that it was CO that turned back the first rescue attempt. Not good. They were hoping it was from the initial explosion and not from a subsequent fire.

They are reporting that the air tested from the new 6&1/4" hole bored down to the mine shaft registers 1300 PPM CO.

    No atheists in foxholes...

Nor Coalmines either I'll bet. I always wondered who atheists were ultimately thankful TO? Those coal miners have my vote for the second bravest folks on the planet. Thank God they're out. The bravest folks on the planet are the wives and mothers that watch that lunchbox go out the door every morning and wonder if it's the last...

    A cruel miscommunication

I just read about it. The news spread lke wildfire but it was the wrong news. The town went nuts thinking all but one had made it, when it was quite the opposite. They were ringing the church bells and honking car horns in celebration. When the truth was told to them fights broke out as people struck out in their grief. State troopers were needed to restore the outbreaks. The Governer, who lost an Uncle to a mine explosion back in the 60's, is trying to get people to appreciate that one made it out alive, but it is a hard adjustment after thinking all but one had made it. I feel sooo sorry for those people

Fearing they are hurt or dead, then hearing they are OK, then having their jubilation crushed by the awful news that they are indeed gone. Understandable that they are angry, I'd be looking for someone to strangle myself in that situation. Also understanable that a miscommunication would happen in the chaos of the moment but still tragic for the families.

They are still standing in the need of prayer. They have ours.
