    Steam Heat System

I have spent a good part of today getting acquainted with this very informative site. Our steam heat system has been keeping my wife and I up during the night for the last few weeks with loud banging. (With 2 small toddlers in the house we try to keep things as quiet as possible) We have owned our home for 4 years this month. The radiator in the living room (directly above the boiler) has always banged occasionally, but has become more frequent. It is at the point where it has become a real nuissance. I have spoken to several local plumbers who have told me there is nothing you can do about this problem except maybe pitch the radiator back toward the shut off valve. BTW it is a single pipe system. After reading info from this site I don't believe any of them. Can anyone recommend a qualified plumber that is experienced in Steam Heat systems to contact. We are located in the Northern Bergen County NJ area.

    Thanks, and Happy New Year.

    Yes,
I did, however after reading some of your information, I don't want any knuckleheads. I want to bring in someone that really knows what they are talking about when it comes to steam systems. I will start calling and asking questions.

Thanks again for all your advice. I will be purchasing the book you have online.

That's the way to do it.

Call them. See who calls back (they all should). Talk to them and ask questions. They'll respect you for your knowledge. Thanks.
