Noisy Lochinvar

My Mothers 8 year old Lochinvar, (don't know the model #) makes a real high pitch noise like a cat getting strangled. Sounds like a ghost is in the pipes. Once in a while it will make some banging noises too. Not sure if it is water running in the pipes then banging on the floor joices or what. I'm not a boiler guy when it comes to furnaces but the technician was out about 4 years ago and said that they have done about all they could do with line bleeding and such. Seems to be getting much worse this year. IS this dangerous? Can this noise be fixed?

    noises

the noise that you here could be the a pump [that is if you were heating by oil] you said you hade a technician about 4 yrs ago its time to have him back sounds like you have a clouged oil line, filter or pump strainer.
banging noises can come from a #of places radding back to the hotwater heater bad seet vale on a forcet washing machine dishwasher if the noise sounds like a coffie pot purkeling that is from mineral bild up on the bottom of the tank i recomend flushing tank about once a month if you have not done this let a technician do this first time for you alot of times you cant stop the drip when you shout off the vale hope this helps

    Pat,
8 years old would have to be a copper tube edition.
Noises in a copper boiler are almost always flow related.

You need to have a good heating guy look at the system.
    1. Does the flow in the system affect the flow in the boiler?
    2. Are all the pumps in the system/ on the boiler still operating properly?
    3. Banging means flow has been stopped through the boiler.
    4. If the technician said that line bleeding couldn’t fix it... ITS flow.

You can call someone in our tech service department at 1-800-722-2101.
