I have a 2 pipe steam system in which a 2" main runs around the basement with a 11/2" return next to it. At the end of the main the return goes down to the floor and back up into the1 1/2" return, the sytem has no traps or vents except a Gorton # 2 at the end of the return.I added a Steam line off the main and put a 5" baseboard with a trap and a 3/4 return also a 8 section radiator( seperate supplies and returns) the 3/4 returns come into the basement to a 1" pipe that I put a quick vent on and the dropped into the return abour 4 to 5" below the water line. The system appeared to work fine for 2 months then the past week it began shooting water out the new quick vent i installed . any ideas??

Return line to boiler
is probably plugging up. The water would shoot out of your new vent first if it's lower than the other vent.
Is the steam main vented? If not, that would be a good idea.
