Looking for job hours...

I have a couple of books that may help, also:

Estimating Plumbing Costs by Howard C. Massey

National Plumbing Estimator Seventh Edition by Victor B. Ottaviano

For my work I am on an estimating progam called Wendes that includes a digiter and pen for take-offs. The program is tied into Harrison Publishing for pricing and the NAPHCC for the labor, both for substantial fees.

NAPHCC puts out a real good product that I have used for over 20 years now.

With any labor calculator you really must track your own projects and compare to the "book" as most national averages can be extremely high. At least that is what I have found over the years.

Good luck,

Jack

  • Looking for job hours...

Hello everyone. What a change to the site. I see some of the same names are here, where else would they go?
My question is of hours and how long it takes to do tasks. In my last employment, I had a sheet that showed how long to rough-in and finish fixtures. Where can I find a copy or simular information of "time tasking". I've looked in my plumbing manuals and notes from my schooling but don't have what I really want.
Thanks guys, I know if I need anything I know where to go, HERE!!!

I know there are books for mechanics to allow them to estimate car repairs, as cars are a fixed situation...but plumbing / heating has many variables. Maybe the prev employer made it based on his experiences? Easy for me to say how many hours it should take, but what about the unforseens? http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGIC,GGIC:1970--2,GGIC:en&q=labor+estimator
    may have a useful link?

    National Constructon Estimator

I used a book called National Construction Estimator when I started out. It was pretty good as a base, and I got it at Barnes & Noble for around $60. I looked at RS Means and while they are more costly, they are much more complete (although the numbers seemed real similar). Best advice I can give is start to track your hours closely as you go along. Personal experience will help you figure out your manhour requirements. That's all I use at this point.

I have'nt read it but it seems to be what you're looking for at a decent price.

  • Thanks guys. I'm going out to purchase the book from B&N. Too long of a wait for Santa...
