I need to bleed air out of in floor radient heat

I recently fised a connection in my radient floor system and had to drain one zone. After refilling the sone and reopening the valve to the zone I have noticed the sound of air in the system. I thought my expansion tank (only two years old) would eliminate the air and if the system needed more water, the one way valve from my water supply would add as needed.

Additionally, I now have occasional "spray/discharge" coming out of the expansion tank top.

    Oh...what DO I do?

    Thanks!

I think what you are describing is an air separator, not an expansion tank. Expansion tanks do not remove air but form an absorber for pressure fluctuations as the system heats and cools. Any spray/discharge coming from the top of this device -the air separator- is likely caused by debris in the vent. The vent lets air out but stops when water hits it. If a flake of crud is under the seat it will not seal. A flushing of that is in order. If it is a separate vent, a replacement is cheap enough, but flush it/tap it out first.

For removing the air, you need to assure sufficient velocity to carry the air along to the point of disposal. To do this with water pressure alone is called "purging". Water is flushed in one end of the circuit and out the other until all visible/audible air is removed. After that, the air separator and vent should remove air released by heating.

    Good Luck
