WG 40

I had the pleasure of commissioning two of these burners this week. This has got to be Weishaupt's finest burner yet! Very tuneable, responsive and accurate. This is definitely two thumbs up! Can hardly wait to get my mitts on the Monarch series linkageless burners.

    let me do just that

    Weezie - no linkages - nada! both the air and gas (or oil staging) flows are controlled by dc servo's. Back in Ontario we were able to play with both the WG and G (Monarch) burners. Of course the lab work is easier as Alvarro (don't touch it!) Barro is a really cool tech that loves his burners and instructing. And in the field it was just as easy. Instructions are clear (wow - a teutonic instruction manual that is accurate) - follow the instructions and voila! And we are advised that pricing is comparable to current burners - eg - cost of all the electronics vs cost of all those parts is a wash. Once job is complete and cleaned up - I'll take some pics and post. Attachment is a photo Steve Lapp took from Mac's Heating on Vancouver Island. WG 40 - nat gas at HF. Tres cool! (the other pic is a blatant plug for our Rocky Mountains here in BC - taken before the recent dump of snow!) Oil fire too!

    more pics

    well two - can hardly wait to crank one of these on a vertomat. As I said - once the site is cleaned a bit - I'll post a few pics. These boilers @ 1.1 MMBTUH each replaced one CB @ 6.5 MM btuh. Need a good used CB????? (almost free - you do have to remove it from existing boiler room - demolition of walls not happening - I suspect that boiler will be in 5 pieces by Wednesday)

    Ha ha ha :)

    6.5 MM :)) that's a really kind offer:)) buh my back is already realizing 9 sections no likey:)

    i would like to see the look on the owners face when you have a new soccer field and small tennis stadium and two meggers in the same boiler room:)

    i like the stand it has. i noticed you have some test equipment on site ...that is very interesting to me also...

    can you use it for oil or gas?

    test gear -

    Analyser is a Kane May Quintox - and to date it has not breathed one molecule of #2 fuel oil - but it can deal with that and up to #3 heavy with ease. Even if you had a "user" defined fuel within the range you can specify hydrocarbon content and away you go. (for oil I use a bacharach 25, smoke gun etc. Also very good gear.) Other testing gear is UEI differential manometers etc. Also pack a nice Digitronic manometer - but it has the annoying habit of auto off while in the middle of a test run. Not sure about soccer field - but the building tech that will happily operate these beauty's is a golf nut - he's thinking indoor driving range etc. Maybe a putting green or the 18th hole at Bethpage Black, :-) While we were doing some initial testing the old CB was still making heat - even set at low fire it would short cycle like crazy. New boilers are not yet fully automated - but at the new low fire (415 000 btuh @ 85% EF/5 ppm CO) it made 600 gallons of domestic, kept the heat on a 2 floor hospital, and the nurses/staff were still warm too. Mind you, we are at minus 5C - at bit warmer than you regardless of where you park your truck in Alaska (I'm told that in summer - even the black flies wear sweaters to keep warm!) The stand is really just a sheet metal shroud, boiler cast iron is very similar to Viessmann Rondo's (now Vitoronds), three inch insulation on house keeping pad - and then just pull sections together. Insulation package and tin supported by draw bolts. Nice three pass boiler. Advertises same features as the big V, eutectic cast, low temp water (within reason), pick your burner package and control interface and throw a match at it (that's the fun part). It is my thinking it would work quite nicely with either the Weishaupt two stage oil or the Riello full mod oil too - it certainly has the specs for it. Toss on a Siemens RWF plc and it is a sweet package. And with the various rebates for fuel savings, low NOx, electrical savings etc - will seriously kick some @#$%& when the annual operating costs are calculated. First thing I noticed is that the boiler room is now "cold" - a light jacket or covies is required.

    This is still relevant , to me *~/:)

    how have you been progressing ? Did you see your burner in the ISH pic's that just came back with the Ladds:)
