Adding heat to garage

YOU COULD ADD A HYDRONIC UNIT HTR AND A STRAP ON AQUASTAT TO CONTOL THE FAN SO IT ALLOWS THE FAN TO TURN ON WHEN IT SEES 140 DEGREE WATER

    Adding Heat to garage

I have a Oil hot water system and would like to add heat to my garage. What would be the best way to accomplish this? I am in the process of replacing my boiler etc and was wondering what would be best for heating the garage. The garage is about 20 x 20 and I currently have 3 zones in the house. The boiler will be in the basement which piping can easily be run to the garage.

    If there is any chance

of freezing you have to leave it on a low level thermostat to keep the area heated or add anti freeze.

In place of applying the anti freeze to the entire system you can isolate it with a plate to plate heat exchanger but you have to fit it out like a small boiler.

Bill has a good idea, and Mitch is right too! If the door was left-up, would it freeze? You may want to look at a heat-exchanger for just the garage, or circulate glycol(anti-freeze), in the whole system.

    Garage

I added a modine unit in my garage last year. It is pretty small but it heats the space right up.

We put in a t87 with lower temp capability - i think it goes down to 40. If we leave the door open, we waste a lot of energy, but nothing is going to freeze........

Did not use an aquastat since its 5 feet from the boiler and I didn't care if we blew cold air in the bsmt.

I highly reccomend the system. We were going to put in some really large CI radiators, but the modine really blows the heat around and is small.

I will post a picture if anyone wants to see it.
