co test

Mmmm.

He should have drilled a 1/4" hole in the vent and sampled the gasses from that!

The stories of incompetence, abuse and dangerous practices is part of life. If we continue to warn, advise and suggest there are other ways, we have at least made SOME effort to right the wrongs.

It is a lifelong endeavor, and burdened with financial mis-deeds along the way.

Thanks for sharing your experience here.

    Bad experience with co test

On Saturday my heating contractor was to do an annual cleaning to my 8 yr old Lochinvar heater. The guy comes and tests for co. He detachs the vent pipe puts his whole expensive unit(probe and ALL) in the exhaust and tells me i have readings of 2500 ppm. (100 ppm or less is acceptable). Red flags me shuts off the boiler. No heat. I politely refuse to sign, ask him to leave, call the company. They send out a fellow 3 hrs later. He tests, ADJUSTS, cleans and shows me readings of around 60 ppm. I can barely imagine my elderly parents or the like dealing with this stuff.
BTW i have a co experts detector thanks to this website and it never reads anything.
I feel for the contractors having to deal with new regulations, but some guys need more training. Any comments
