Zone valve ball broken?

One of the zones in my home was not delivering hot water so I replaced the elec. control of the zone valve(Honeywell)leaving the valve part of the control intact. Everything is working but there is still no hot water pumping through that line. So I took the controler off the valve and manually opened the ball valve. Still no flow. Could the ball be stuck closed and the stem still turn? Thank you.

Zone valve
Could be. But also could be that zone is air-bound. Try purging...0 -
Do you mean just open the drain valve on the return side for a while?0 -
Zone valve
NO! Don't open any valves until we can figure out how this is piped. Let me get back to you later this p.m. Maybe it's time for an on-site tech?0
