I just wanted to thank all the contibutors to this forum. For the advice and guidance on steam systems. I actually find this stuff quite interesting. We have replaced our old EG-35 (which wasn't actually that old, but leaked) with a new 5 section Burnham.
Although the installer skimmed it, the water line still bounced around a bit so following the advice here I skimmed it some more, and voila, I've had a steady waterline ever since.
The system is quiet and I am no longer adding one inch of water per week.
Thanks again to all of you.
