Knight PC program

Have any of you guys done any work with the PC program/interface that's available for a Lochinvar Knight. If so, did you find it useful in setting up the boiler for best operation? What did you like about it? What didn't you like about it? Is it worth the $$?

Thanks in advance

Steve

    Software

I think the software is pretty nice to have around. I bought it but don't know that I "Needed" it.

We did a nice residential job with 2 Knight boilers and the full blown (optional)TN4 tekmar setup. I was told that I definately had to have the software to "Setup" the boilers to correctly read the TN4 communication. I did all of the wiring and programming myself so I was fairly confident it would power up right away. After powering up the tekmar, it did exactly what it was supposed to do. Then I powered up the Boiler circuit, and the boilers immediately fired up and ran like a champ. I programmed the boilers to run off of the BMS contacts, but IMHO, I really didn't need the software.

I am completely happy with the Knight boilers and the fine folks at Lochinvar, but you might be able to do without the software. I think the software will be helpful for me if I am out trouble-shooting a Knight install and I want to see the boilers fault history and other info.

You should also plan on spending some extra funds for a USB adapter. The cable that comes with the package only has a Serial port connection and most laptops now have USB and Firewire ports.
