Our two pipe vapor system vaporstat is set @ 2oz on the main side and is shutting down on the thermostat only. The vaporstat checks out ok and the pigtail is clean. I also have the pressure stat as a high limit back-up.
System is well vented with 4 #2 Gorton's, water seal traps and orifice plates at the radiator valves. System is working quite well, other than possibly running longer than it may need to. Is it possible that the system is never reaching 2oz of pressure before the thermostat is satisfied, or should I be looking for something else?

  • Not only possible....

That's the desired way for it to run.

Only when it runs extra long, as when it tries to gain several degrees coming out of night setback, might a well vented system with oversized radiators (for modern windows and insulation) ever hit the pressure control.

That's as good as it gets.
