Boiler room in a closet

i've looked at quiktrac, i might suggest something more like warmboards, thick plate transfer plates, thermafloor or some others with higher outputs. sounds more like a weekend cabin?

need to figure out your heat load for that -45F temperature.

Smallest size room for boiler, controls, etc.

We need to heat a room over a cold crawl space, and first we will have our urethane foam guy do 2.5 inches of sprayfoam on everything underneath, plus seal all the cracks so the crawl space is tight.

We are in a deep freeze northern climate, way upstate NY in the mountains, with something like 7500 heating degree days, and winter lows as deep as 45 below.

The room is 17-7 x 25-0, thus 440 sf. We want to do Wirsbo's above-floor QuikTrac panels over the existing subfloor, then the new finish atop.

Please recommend a good wall-hung LP-fired condensing boiler, and tell us the size of room (smallest possible) we can get everything inside.

    heat loss

The sq feet isn't the real issue, the heat loss is. So, use one of the handy heat loss programs to find what you need. If you are going to all this effort I would insulate the crawl space to interior specs. The current thinking is that heat loss and humidity is best controlled with an insulated crawl space. So, styrofoam and sand on the floor with a plastic vapor barrior and insulated walls. You would then not need to spray under the floor. If the heat loss in this space is say 10,000 btu an electric boiler or tiny propane water heater may be your choice, or electic mat. However all will depend on the heat loss. Going with a radiant heated floor will be something you congratulat yourself for doing.

    size

That is a small area, and a boiler is going to be too large. I would suggest a Laing EPR electric heater. Everything is built in, just hook up the thermostat and the tubes/manifold. You could fit the whole system in a corner of the closet. Just keep the head loss low in the radiant floor loops.
