HW System losing pressure, gaining air

Options
off the boiler and pressurize it w/ air and water in the system say to 30 psi(using a compressor)...then watch and listen...if its in the boiler you will soon get a puddle under it....kpc

    System losing pressure, gaining air

15 yr old hw system, laars boiler with 4 zone, 4 valves on downstream side, 2 circ downstream of valves, indirect hw tank. Will not maintain system pressure anymore (15 psi). Has a feed from fw side, but regulator seems stuck open, so I keep feed valve closed and add water every other day to keep up. As pressure drops, air forms. Installed bleeds at high points in loops (plumber never did)to get air out, but always comes back. Since I can't find a water leak, my best guess is that I have a boiler leak. Also, when burner (gas) is running, it makes a high pitch sort of whining that get's lower in pitch as it runs.

Any ideas on how to isolate problem?

    Thanks

If your boiler has iso valves, pressurize the system to 29# with the system off, close the valves, and watch in the burner chamber. If pressure drops really fast like mine did, re-pressurize. I have pics of what mine looked like. Water will drip onto the burners from the copper finned HX.
