Long radias as opposed to short radias in a boiler loop or loops is there any advantage to using one over the other

Better flow characteristics and less friction loss!Check out some of "Hot Rod's" pictures and notice the very long radius bends he uses. This takes time and talent but results in a more efficient flow.

Plus they look so darn nice...

Around here I ask for "refrigeration elbows" and they come in OD-based sizes (e.g.: If I want 3/4", 1" and 1-1/4", I ask for 7/8", 1-1/8" and 1-3/8" respectively.

    Copper Ell's

I carry 3 different radius on my truck ,long ,short and plumbers( this one has no inside turning radius at all ).I use long ell's 95%of the time and the others where physical impossible to use a long ell. I also only do 90% ACR work leaving 10% for hydronics. The longs are $$$$$ compared to shorts and plumbers ell's.Enjoy your day!

    Long radius

I used long radius at my house and a few for indirect boiler loop connections.
