My electrician buddy had to wire 9 or 10 Modine type ceiling hung gas units in a warehouse or factory or something. He wants to Know if thermal switches are required?
I was thinking it wasn't abad idea, but he wants to see it in writing. NFPA ? Fuel gas code?

If you are talking hi limit, roll out, back draft, then yes. I guess I am not sure what you mean by thermal switch?.?.? Are you talking thermal overloads for an overdrawing circuit?

I'm thinking he's talking about a firo-matic switch. I'm not sure if they are required for gas, I know they're not in Mass anyways0 -

Firo-matic or ORMCO , the 120 volt kind that have a fuse that melts @ 165°F that usually mounts over the top of an oil fired appliance?

International Mechanical Code? It may not be code required but I think it would be the right thing to do. Funny how people don't want to pay for stuff that is in their best interest just 'cause it costs them money.0
