Heating Fuel Change

Should only have to adjust the burner a little...do a complete efficiency test. Why switch? If it gets very cold where you are, the fuel ( #2 ) will gel up and give you headaches. A mix can be used or the oil can be treated. Check with his fuel supplier to find out what the norm is for your area.

My buddy has a mobil home and uses kerosene . He has forced hot air. He would like to know if he can switch over to burning oil in his system. Can he just change the burner tip or is there more that needs to be done? I beleive the burner tip being used now is a 65. What size tip would he use if he can just switch over by tip size or what else needs to be done? Kerosene prices do a number on his budget. Thank you for any help you my give. Thanks!R.J.

    The cost

If you live in a cold climate the cost of one service call to thaw out a gelled tank and other related problems will equal or exceed the money saved on using fuel oil. To answer your question a combustion test is all that is needed to maked the switch. A company I used to work for had customers sign a waiver if they refused kersoene.

    beware...

I'm in complete agreement with the other rpelies here, I have spent enough long miserable days in zero degree weather trying to thaw out outside oil tanks/lines running #2 instead of kero, it's definitely not worth the risk.
