Hot rads but cold hot water!

Although I am not familiar with that system, it sounds like it has a coil. It's very possible the coil or a mixing valve if you have one is plugged. Since you already admit your not familiar with this system, now is probably a good time to try "find a pro" and get it taken care of...

Now here's one to get you thinking. I have recently moved house and am having trouble with my hot water. I have a Potterton Kingfisher II heating system and a Satchwell thermostat (obviously an old one as the dial is in F and whilst there is the usual pointer, there are also two "sliders" either side of it - what they do...I have no idea!). It's one of those systems where the heating will only work if the hot water is on.
Now, whilst the rads seem to warm up to a near scorching temperature, I often find myself with only luke warm / cold hot water, even if none has been used for an hour or so. Has anyone got any ideas as to why this might be? It's driving me mad! Apologies if i haven't given the necessary information - I'm a bit of a central heating virgin!!!!
