gas fired flu vented hot air heating system

in THE MAIN WALL
I have a hot air furnace in the basement and it is flu vented to outdoors, shouldn't this furnance have a filter?

    If there is not, "Buffalo Boot can be installed to provide a slot so it can be easily changed by the home owner. Now is the perfect time to call a Pro to evaluate you current HVAC system and make recommendations and remedy any problems....
