Furnace won't fill with water

That`s an old 1-1/4" flow-control right? I doubt this is the problem, usually it`s the PRV that causes this problem. Like JohnNY said, it`s time for a pro. PS- But if your "curious" as to what`s inside them, check the attachment, I got this from Dan`s library.

My furnace will not fill with water.
The water comes in from the main into a pressure reducing valve (works fine) then tee's off with one side going to a big steel expansion tank and the other side going to a "thrush flow control valve" V-114A which is where the problem seams to be. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be with this thing? do they still sell these? It has a small hande that turns 180 deg which does not seam to do any thing.

Thanks any help would be appreciated

    ?

    Thank goodness!
If your furnace filled with water you'd have some serious problems.
Just kidding. I think you have a boiler, Frank.
You really need to have a professional look at why your fill valve isn't working. I would look toward replacing it rather than trying to repair it.

    thank you for your help.
the pdf of the flow control is what i have with the exection of mine is inline and not at a right angle
and the water inlet is at the bottom.
the prv deffinitly seams to working fine as it will "fill"
the expantion tank with water and as i mentioned earlier
after the prv it tees of the expasion tank and flow control valve.
the flow control is such a simple device there seams like not too much that could go wrong with it to prevent the system from filling with water.....unless maybe the valve inside is ceased ( i have not had anywater in the system for a few months) this my be alowing the boiler to fill but not the rest of the pipes.

boiler not heating water to a acceptable temp.

My Temperature guage on my 15 year old boiler is only reaching 100 degrees or less. What can I do to increase this to an acceptable temp.

    Post Separate

Hello. You might want to post this as a new thread, so people will see it as a separate subject.

Also, include the model of the boiler, and let people know if you have confirmed that the gauge is reading the right temperature.

More information and a separate new post will help you get help.
  • Flow control..........

Frank, I`m glad the pdf helped you understand these valves a little. They are made in a "straight" pattern too. Not much to them your right, they are just kind of a "weighted" check-valve. I have never had a problem with these "seizing", so I`m sure your issue is somewhere else. Is there any valves in-between the PRV tee to the tank, and this FC, that may be suspected? How much piping is in between this tee and the FC? Is it copper or black iron?
  • Temperature 100*............

Are you saying that under constant firing that`s all it reaches to? Or it shuts-off at this point? Is there an "outdoor" reset on it?
