i have mistakenly drained some of the system while flushing my hot water heater which is next to the boiler and the pipes are close together behind the tank. from what i have read on this, i need a glycol mix? and where do i add it, at the top of the boiler? does this system purge the air automatically? thanks0 -
i have read some more and it seems that if i live in a not so cold area, annapolis maryland, it is possible to just use distilled water, added byway of pump? if i have to pay a service man to do it, then thats what i will do, if it can be done by myself with the right directions,,, ,i have several small to medium pumps. me thinks that putting a pump between the lowest drain and highest will allow the system to purge itself of air,,,hhmmmmm,,,yes,,i am a hillbilly engineer,,someone needs to straighten me out!0 -

Maybe the reason that noone has responded to this post is unfamilarity with your particular boiler. This is an Electric boiler and they are usually installed in situations where there is no basement and/or no gas or oil is readily available. I would have to guess that you do not have a basement and also that some of your pipes are in places that will feel cold temperatures otherwise antifreeze probably wouldn't have been used.
I have attached a piping drawing showing the way these should be piped and it shows an air elimination device. I have also attached a link to the Installation and Operation Manual for the boiler. I would strongly advise getting a local contractor out there to deal with this for your safety and that of your family. Even though boiler this does not burn fuel, it is still a pressure rated vessel and should not be experimented with if you are not familiar with what it is. This sounds like a minor issue that should be nothing other than a simple service call and possibly a part or two. Well worth the price as far as peace of mind and safety are concerned. Hope this helps.
