TACO 007IFc mounting question

I have a situation where the only feasible way to mount the circulator is with the motor on the bottom. TACO's instruction want the motor mounted horizontally or with it on top, with the requirement system pressure is 20 psi.

Anybody have experience with the motor mounted on the bottom?

Thanks

I have never mounted the circ. motor down or up because my understanding is that it can malfuntion. Due to moisture can not drain.

    taco motor mounting

Great subject, this happens to be one of my pet peeves.
I love this site and am a faithful follower. I love the pictures sent in by so many talanted installers, yet very often you will see circulators mounted with the motor facing down, clearly against most installation instructions
I am familiar with. I may be wrong on this but I believe I've even seen some Taco advertizements showing circs in this position although they may not have been advertizing pumps in that paticular add.

I've replaced alot of failed pumps installed the wrong way.
There is always a way to pipe the system so the pump can be installed the correct way.
You can also remove the 4 bolts that hold the motor to the body and rotate the motor.

    Marc,
I wish it was as simple as removing the four motor bolts and rotaing it 180, something we've all had to do too many times.
In this case, instead of the back-end of the motor staring at you, so to speak, it would need to face the ground. Taco in its instructions states the back-end of the motor can face the ceiling provided system pressure is maintained at 20 psi.
I'll call Taco Monday and ask them if I can point it down.

    Thank you for the reply.

    What about a reverse flanged

version of the 007 where the flange bolt pattern is 1/4 turn from the one you have?

    mounting

DO NOT, (please!!!) ever mount a wet rotor circ. with the motor hanging. It will KILL the bearings.
    Enough said...take my word.

    Thanks, hot rod and John,

The original installer did a great job of cramming alot stuff together on this system in a small space. I was asked to finish the install on a zone he'd made provisions for, and of all the circs. on this system, this zone circ. was hung with the motor down, and there isn't enough room to get a 1/4 turn without a fair amount of re-work.
I didn't notice it when I looked at the job, so I'll let the customer know the bad news.

    thanks again
